We are all vulnerable to psychological tendencies. We tend to search for, select, view, and share information that confirms our beliefs. Or we gravitate towards information that triggers an emotional response or satisfies an emotional need. We also tend to be fiercely loyal to those in our in-group or tribe, placing trust in them even when clear evidence indicates this is misguided.

YouVet. Our story
YouVet is an education tech startup that launched in 2022. We are currently in stealth mode preparing to launch our mobile learning application. Our story, however, begins more than two decades earlier when Founder & CEO, James Damico, PhD, began researching and teaching about what it means to successfully read and evaluate online information. On this journey, James has authored three research-driven books along with dozens of academic research articles and book chapters, many with his close collaborator, Mark Baildon.
Beginning in 2004, James also led the design and development of the Critical Web Reader (CWR), an online platform that helped hundreds of teachers and thousands of students become more skilful, savvy, and successful readers and evaluators of online information. To expand the global reach of the CWR platform, James co-founded the company, Delve Learning, with Mark Baildon in 2012. This led to a software license agreement with the National Institute of Education in Singapore.
YouVet, the company, was launched to develop and scale products rooted in humane technology design principles. We begin with our YouVet mobile application, a completely re-imagined learning experience for anyone interested in more skilfully navigating our social media worlds to better understand and make decisions about issues and topics that matter to each of us our communities, country, and across the world.

This passion is rooted in my experience as an elementary and middle school teacher in the 1990s (in the early days of the Internet) and continued to evolve and expand when I was a graduate student at Michigan State University and since becoming a professor at Indiana University in 2004. I am excited to bring YouVet to everyone ready for a qualitatively different experience with online information across the digital spaces we inhabit.”
